Dr.
Andreas Marzinzik studied at Bochum University where he received a
diploma in chemistry working in the laboratory of Prof.. Dr. G.
Snatzke. He continued his studies at Essen University, where he
received his Ph.D. in 1994 for work on heterocyclic chemistry with
Prof. Dr. P. Rademacher. In 1995 he accepted a postdoctoral fellowship
in the Molecular Diversity unit of Ciba Geigy AG, Basel. In 1996 he
was promoted to lab head carrying out research on combinatorial
technologies. In 1999 he joined Prof. K. B. Sharpless' group at the
Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla for a year-long sabbatical. In
January 2000 Dr. Marzinzik moved to his present position as head of
the Integrated Combinatorial Lead Discovery program at Novartis Pharma
AG. Dr. Marzinzik's research is concerned with the implementation of
new Lead Finding technologies and the production of focussed libraries
of modular, drug-like heterocycles. Recently he took also
responsibility for the chemistry activities regarding
fragment-based-screening.
